TELLING OTHERS ABOUT JESUS - KEEP IT SIMPLE!

A manageable approach to evangelism for the local Church.

Outreach events don't have to be big budget, big effort and often a big disappointment. They can be relatively easy, relaxed and enjoyable, fitting in with the ongoing life of the Church as well as being blessed by the Lord.

Damascus Trust has many years of experience in helping churches to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Working to the strengths of the local church and with a sensitive yet straight-forward approach, many have come to know Jesus as Lord and Saviour. On this page you will find out simple and effective approach to evangelism

How does it work?

Out And About Team

Community Survey

This has been designed by Damascus Trust and has proved to be a most effective way of reaching out into the local community. It can be run in stages depending on the size of the community and the numbers available to help. Simple (multiple choice), brief (only twelve questions) and straightforward (simple everyday language), it can be used by all who love Jesus. The survey engages people in conversation about the community, the Church and the Lord Jesus. It also offers people an opportunity to know more about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Out And About Team
Evangelistic events

Linked with going Out & About we would ask the local church to organise and promote two to four relaxed and informal events at which the gospel of Jesus can be presented. With a simple and uncomplicated approach, combining the experience and skills of both the local Christians and Damascus Trust, these events can be ideal for inviting fringe people from the church as well as those contacted through the survey. Some of these sessions could easily be based on existing events in the life of the fellowship.

Out And About Team
Follow-up

Experience shows that as a result of the survey and the events, people will want to know more about Jesus for themselves. Some informal follow-up sessions should be planned for the following two weeks. Damascus Trust will offer help, material and advice on how to run these events.

what next?

What does Damascus Trust offer?

To help with the above, Damascus Trust is able to offer the following:

  • An initial meeting when we’d explain the questionnaire, the overall approach and discuss details.
  • Two briefing and training sessions to prepare people and finalise arrangements.
  • All the necessary plans, questionnaires, clipboards, badges etc.
  • Our evangelist (with or without a small team) to speak at the evangelistic events.
  • To collate the information and present a summary sheet and suggestions as to what to do next at a de-brief meeting.
  • At least one follow-up visit within a month.

What are the costs?

Overall costs will vary according to individual situations and can be discussed as part of our initial meeting. Damascus Trust does not charge for its ministry but would ask that wherever possible, all expenses are covered. It is then up to each church / group to give what they can towards the costs of our time and ministry.

WHAT NEXT? Simply contact our office and arrange a time for us to meet with you, without obligation, to explore things further.
