What is it, who's it for and what is required?
A group of five or more people who want to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with anyone, anywhere, anyhow, anytime. You can join a
UK Team or a PIE Team Abroad for at least 2 weeks.
People aged 18 and over who know Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord and have enthusiasm, energy and are well motivated.
Being on a PIE Team calls for a servant-heart, creativity, initiative and a willingness to get up and do.
What's Involved?
PIE Teams UK will be working alongside local churches in their community or at public events.
PIE Teams Abroad. The Damascus Trust is working in partnership with Christian Renewal Church based in Vizianagaram and Plenty To Share Ministries in Vegayammapeta, both in the state of Andhra Pradesh; India. We also work with the Episcopalian Diocese of Byumba, Rwanda and International Teaching Ministries in Oradea, Romania. Short-term teams go out between February and November depending on the destination and needs. Opportunities are varied and challenging but very rewarding.
What's the cost?
PIE Teams UK: You are responsible for your travel to and from the mission sites in the UK as well as the Training days. You may also need to make a contribution towards food and general mission costs (£25-30 per week), though many UK churches offer hospitality to the team.
PIE Teams Abroad: You are responsible for your own travel costs, visas and personal insurances. You would also need to contribute to hospitality costs which will vary depending on location. In general a two-three week trip will cost between £600-£1000.
What else do I need to know?
Depending on which team you are applying for, you may be asked to attend an interview.
There will be a training and briefing day for each team which we would expect you to attend.
For most UK missions, accommodation is provided by the local Church, either in church halls or the homes of local Christians.
You'll be working alongside local churches wherever possible, so an appreciation of other denominations is important.
